Let's dive into the plan
We land in Athens, get a short briefing on the jeeps and set out to uncover the mountain secrets of Greece. A stop in a fishing town for lunch, a visit to the battlefield of Leonidas and the 300 Spartans, and as the scenery shifts from coastline to mountains, Karpenisi, the Switzerland of Greece. A first taste of off-road driving toward a sunset at 1,400 meters.
A wild day of nature: a hike to the Black Cave, an off-road drive into a gorgeous canyon and a wet canyoning session, rappelling down waterfalls. A fun walk inside a flowing river to the eternal waterfalls, and an evening in a local taverna in a small, charming village.
An active day at Lake Plastira and an off-road drive into one of the wildest and most beautiful reserves in mountain Greece.
A whole day of off-road driving along a flowing river and ancient villages. We cross the Agrafa range between little waterfalls, visit an old flour mill and stop at a viewpoint over Lake Kremaston, the largest artificial lake in Greece, where we set out on a wonderful yacht cruise.
A morning of rafting on the turquoise Arachthos River, then the peaceful island of Ioannina, quality time for rest, shopping and coffee on the lakeshore. In the evening we head out to one of the lively clubs.
The enchanting Zagori region: hidden pools tucked between crevices, a viewpoint over the Vikos Gorge, the narrowest canyon in the world, ancient stone bridges, the village of Monodendri and the stone forest.
An off-road drive to the warm valley, the Valia Calda reserve famous for its brown bears. In the alpine village of Metsovo we visit a winery and taste cheeses and prosciutto. Toward evening, Kalambaka at the foot of Meteora, and an evening in a Greek taverna.
We rise early for sunrise over the hanging monasteries of Meteora, giant rocks where monks built monasteries as close to God as they could get. A visit, incredible photos, and depending on the flight time, home to Israel.
